John Sperzel is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer at T2 Biosystems (NASDAQ: TTOO). As a healthcare executive, John has spent decades building and leading high-performance teams and has acquired companies in the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America.

In 2017, John was diagnosed with an extremely rare, and progressively fatal disorder. He spent two months fighting for his life in a cardiac surgical intensive care unit, and ultimately received a life-saving heart transplant. Following his heart transplant, while recovering in a rehabiliatation facility, he got several multidrug-resistant bacterial infections, one of which led to sepsis.

Against all odds, John didn’t simply survive – he thrived. He returned to his role as Chief Executive Officer of a public company and continues to pursue his lifelong passion to advance life-saving technologies.

As a speaker, John describes his amazing story of dealing with adversity, and shares powerful lessons in leadership, strength, and the will to succeed.
